Terms of Service:

• All fees and costs will be determined and agreed upon before any work commences.
• Cost overages may apply if any changes are made once work has begun.
• A deposit of 50% of the total invoice is due before any work is to commence, unless otherwise agreed upon.
• The final invoice or remainder of the balance must be paid in full before you will have complete access to all administration functions of your website or blog, and any materials and licenses used to create your site are released, unless otherwise agreed upon.
• All work will be complete on the time agreed upon. I will not make claims for completion that I cannot back up, or that time does not allow.
• All clients are responsible for obtaining proper permissions for use of any images or content that they submit to me for use on their project, and that all text submitted is either original, or copy-written by said company, organization, or individual client. In other words: It must be yours, or you have permission to use it.
• I reserve the right to refuse work on Websites, Blogs and Social Media profiles that promote racism, hate, or illegal activity.
• All invoices can be paid with any major credit card via Pay Pal.
• I will not do business with or accept payment from minors (under 18 years old) under any circumstances, without their parents permission.
• Continuing services, support, administration, hosting or on call trouble shooting services require an initial retainer, and are billed monthly. At this time I don’t require any long term contract commitments.

Dissatisfaction / Refund Policy:

I, of course, strive to have happy clients at all times and give the best possible service to insure that your project meets or exceeds your expectations. I am confident that I can meet any and all expectations and resolve any issues that come up, however, there may be times when unforeseen circumstances arise. In that event, the following policies are in place:

• Any costs for licenses, images, or other materials secured for your project cannot be refunded. Client will receive a refund of the balance of the deposit, minus $100.
• The deposit for custom design or special coding projects cannot be refunded.
• If at all possible, in the event that a project is terminated for what ever reason before completion, I will deliver any raw materials and licenses to the client as is, minus any customizations or modifications.
• Any cancellations that occur before work has begun, are eligible for a refund of the deposit, minus $50.
• Projects cannot be canceled within 48 hours of agreed upon time of completion. In the even that you attempt a cancellation within 48 hours of completion, you are still responsible for the full balance of the agreed upon cost and you will not receive any materials, access to your website or any work that has been done until the balance is paid.
• Lastly, as a small business person, I am certainly no stranger to unforeseen circumstances and cash flow problems. Keeping the lines of communication open is the first step in working through any problems or difficulties. I will always try and accommodate any extenuating circumstances when ever possible to do so.

How long does it take to get my site up and running ?

Barring any unforeseen changes from you while we are putting together your configuration. We can generally get you up and running in about 10 days or less. Once we have the preliminary deposit, we work expeditiously to complete your work. Once we have met your satisfaction, your site will be accessible online after final payment is made.

What is WordPress?

WordPress is a highly customizable CMS (Content Management System) and our platform of choice. It is the official successor of b2\cafelog which was developed by Michel Valdrighi. Previously thought of as a “blogging” platform, it is now the CMS of choice and the industry standard for many successful companies, organizations, publications and universities including NASA, M.I.T., Stanford University, Xerox, Harvard University, Dartmouth, Texas Tech, Cornell, Ford Motor Company, The New York Times, CNN Political Ticker, Nike, Ben and Jerry’s , Open I.D., People Magazine, MTV Newsroom, G.E. What is SEO, and do I need it ?

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results. We will set your site up with the proper building blocks to get your SEO off to a “running start”, and offer tips to continue SEO development over the life of your website. How much additional, or advanced SEO you want or need is going to depend on what you want to accomplish online.

Will I need my own domain ?

Yes you will. It is your identity online and an integral part of your overall marketing and communication. As part of our service, if you haven’t yet registered a domain, a (1) “.com, .net, .us, or .org” domain is included free of charge, and we will assist you with choosing the best domain for your business, and making sure that it stays renewed for as long as we are hosting your site. If you want to do it yourself, we recommend Domain Filer.com , or Go Daddy.  We have been very happy with their service over the years. Generally speaking, it costs $10 a year to register “.com, .net, .us, or .org‘” extensions.

Will I be able to make basic changes and additions on my own ?

Absolutely ! We aren’t going to just dump your site on you without a clue of how to operate it. Will we show you how to post to your blog (if applicable), and help you along the way. As long as your site is hosted with us, we are of course available to do any complex changes, redesigns, or additions.

What do you need from me to get started ?

There is a deposit of 50% of the total invoice to get started, but besides that, there are a few things that we need from you to complete the project.

• Content: What do you want your website to say ? You will need to organize the content you want to use, and that will best describe your business, We, of course, will help with editing for maximum optimization, but no one knows your business and what you want to portray like you do. If you don’t have anything prepared and would like to get started ASAP, we will set you up with one of our professional copywriters to develop just the right prose to project your business’s mission and personality, optimized for SEO throughout the website.

• Images: You will need to round up any professional promotional images of your company, logo, or portfolio in digital format (jpg., gif., png.,). We can also help you choose from thousands of royalty free, professional digital images (additional costs vary) if needed.

What type of contracts or commitments are involved ?

Outside of us completing your website, we don’t require you to commit to any long term contracts with us. You retain complete ownership of your website and all the necessary files, including your domain. If you are not happy with our hosting and management of your site, you are welcome to secure outside hosting elsewhere and we will assist you with the transfer.

What if I have no clue where to begin ?

No problem. That is why we are here, to help you determine what type of solution is right for you. We understand that you probably don’t spend all day looking at XML, PHP, HTML, or any other code or database operations. We are here to help and explain things so that you understand them in “plain speak”.
